Commissioning a Piece: How It Works
Creating a bespoke ceramic piece is a rewarding and collaborative process. Whether you’re after a personalised gift, matching tableware or a sculptural statement for your home, Susy will guide you through every step with care and attention.
The Conversation
It starts with a chat. You can get in touch via email, phone or in person to discuss your ideas. Susy will listen carefully, offer suggestions and help shape your vision. This is the time to talk about purpose, size, colours, finishes and any practical requirements.
The Making
Once the details are confirmed and the quote approved, Susy begins work. Using local clay where possible, each piece is hand-built or wheel-thrown, dried slowly, fired and glazed using her own tested recipes. This stage typically takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on complexity and kiln schedule.
The Collection
When your commission is ready, you’ll be contacted to arrange collection or delivery. If you’re nearby, you’re welcome to visit the studio and see the finished work in person. Nationwide delivery is also available on request.
