Large Bowl in Dark Studio Glaze
This large bowl is wheel thrown in stoneware and finished with a dark studio glaze that moves gently across the surface in deep charcoal, olive and earthy brown tones. The glaze settles into the throwing rings, revealing soft spirals at the centre and subtle shifts in colour that change with the light.
The surface carries a matte, almost velvety quality, with natural variations that are the result of the firing process. Each bowl emerges from the kiln with its own individual character, recording the movement of the wheel and the atmosphere of the studio.
Generous in scale, this bowl works beautifully as a centrepiece or decorative object, while remaining functional for serving if desired. Its restrained palette and tactile finish allow it to sit comfortably in both contemporary and rustic interiors.
Made by Susy Ward at her Krowji studio in Redruth, this bowl reflects a love of material, process and understated form.
